  15. For those of you who are sick and
  16. tired of ruining their phone with
  17. white and beige boxes that make
  18. stupid (and now because of ESS,
  19. worthless) tones, there is now an
  20. alternative.  (Thanks to Magnus!)

  23.  How this came about:
  24.  
  25. Once I was reading and complaining
  26. that there must be a better way to
  27. attach alligator clips to a phun
  28. phone without ruining it and making
  29. it a permanent phone man's set.
  30.  
  31. I began to contemplate the basic idea
  32. of this new box, when I said, "I just
  33. happen to have a spare modulator and
  34. some phone wire in my phreak kit at
  35. home!"  Immediately I got some
  36. alligator clips.  By the thought I
  37. was thinking, I knew I was up to
  38. something to solve this pain in the
  39. ass problem.

  42.  Construction of the Modu-Box:
  43.  
  44. You will need:
  45.  
  46. 2 alligator clips
  47. 2 lengths of wire
  48.    Preferably red and green about 1/2
  49.    a foot long.
  50. 1 phone modulator
  51.    This can be bought (shoplifted!)
  52.    at Radio Shack or other
  53.    electronics stores for not very
  54.    many bucks.  (No bucks if
  55.    shoplifted: the five finger
  56.    discount)  They are simply a
  57.    little beige colored square piece
  58.    of plastic that has a phone jack
  59.    in the front, and when the back is
  60.    taken off, the inside has 4 wires
  61.    ready to hitch up to a phone line.

  65. Y R B G - yellow, red, black, and
  66.           green terminals inside

  78. The black and yellow should be left
  79. alone.  (for later use)

  81. Now plug your phone into the jack,
  82. open up the terminal (explained in
  83. the "Terminal Phun" phile), attach
  84. the alligator clips to the bolts
  85. inside, and if you get a dial tone,
  86. then phreak OUT!

  88. If you really want to be a smartass,
  89. you can use the black and yellow also
  90. and make a party line!  (brown box)
